Paint the Hall, or paint poppies?

It was no contest really! The Hall, Landing and Stairs are the last of the indoor DIY projects, but, despite the rain storms, I just couldn't find the energy to get out the Crown 'Heaven' Matt Emulsion... so took photos of wet poppies and painted them instead. I need to practice, practice and practice, having had a break of many weeks since painting. It's good to get back in the saddle, so to speak! Come to think of it, there are other 'saddles' I'd like to get back into, given the chance! For instance; going out to work and meeting people; getting dressed up in high heels; going to the cinema with someone; booking a holiday; have a conversation with someone who doesn't meow back... just a few of the saddles I think about now and then.

The Hall will have to wait until I'm in the mood... or, perhaps I could paint poppies on the walls?

Art should definitely come first!

Do you go to the pictures on your own? I've done it a few times and it is quite bearable. It's more fun to go with someone else of course but I'd rather go alone than miss out on a film I want to see. I feel very brave when I do. None of my 'normal' married friends would do it.

If you substitute woof for meeow then I am in the same situation - they are great listeners but they don't say much back. I think I am going to have to move back to town just to have humans (and maybe even men!) to talk to.

Hi Puddock, good to hear from you again. I don't mind going to the cinema on my own, but the cinemas closest to me are either the centre of Oxford (dodgy area especially evenings), or Didcot - many miles away! When Witney finishes the new shopping and cinema complex this Autumn I am determined to go regularly to watch films.

From what you've said, I think you are right to want to move to a more inhabited area. Keep in touch.

Funny listening to you two.

Living in the heart of a big city near the beach with art galleries, coffee shops and book stores galore my desire is to move to a quiet, peaceful serene countryside where the shrill wailing sirens of fire, police and ambulances are abound with noise pollution.

As I listen to your chat, maybe there are trade offs I'm not seeing clearly.

Maybe the grass isn't greener after all.

Thanks for the insight.
